Portico is a personal media server. You install Portico Server on a computer that can reach your media files and add the folders you want to use. Then you watch from Portico apps on your other devices.
What the server does
Portico Server scans your files and builds libraries, stores account permissions and profile watch progress, decides how each item plays, and sends media to apps allowed to receive it.
What Portico Services do
A Portico Account gives each person one identity they can use on every server and device they’ve been approved for. Portico Services handle account security, server membership and signed connection information. Your media never moves there.
Once an app has verified a route to a server, requests for that server and the media itself go directly between the app and the server. Portico Services don’t relay, cache or inspect the stream.
What you need
- A computer that can stay on when people want to watch.
- Storage with media you’re authorized to use.
- A reliable connection to your local network.
- A Portico app or a modern web browser.
